Red Dead Redemption 2: Analysis

Environment

Usually in order to create an open world, we have to add a ton of detail and assets. But in RDR2, the environment is very empty yet beautiful. The use of less foliage is better for a performance as well.

Characters

In RDR2, each character was unique and had a reason to be there. Everyone in the village had a role to play and we as the player felt part of a living breathing community. When someone dies, betrays or goes missing, we feel the emotion along with the characters.

Travelling

Games require us to travel between locations to play the game. But usually the time the player spends travelling is empty and without any real use of game time. Hence, many games give the option to fast travel. But in RDR2 we are explained the plan by other characters on the way which makes the travel more useful and also engaging for the player. Due to this, player don’t fast travel much because it fun to listen to the plan of attack and perform it with perfection later.
